To Grow Or Not To Grow

3 minute read

Growth happens physically and it can also happen internally, where we increase in understanding, strength and capacity. This is personal growth. It will result in increased emotional strength, increased mental health and increased practical skills and abilities.

This internal growth can be desired or it can be put aside, not to be engaged with.

When we desire personal growth we will open up, as to the sunshine, to let something new come in to our mind and heart, which will produce change and increase our maturity in some way.

With this increased maturity, increased capacity will come and with increased capacity, increased resilience will come and the rewards of growth will be seen and felt.

The resilience that comes with this growth, has many benefits. It will bring the ability to solve problems, bounce back after a setback and see life in an objective rather than negative way. It creates flexibility and sees failure as an opportunity for feedback …

                                     …and more growth!

When we close ourselves to growth, possibly because of fear or guilt or associated pain, we tend to hide the darker places of our life. Instead of coming out into the warm light, where love heals and connects us, we stay closed and sadly, this closure in darkness tends to greater darkness.

Opening ourselves up to growth then, is like drinking in that warm sunshine. We are designed to grow and thrive like new shoots in a plant that will eventually yield beautiful fruit.

These new shoots, like new growth in our lives, are tender and need the care of safe and loving relationships to mature and reproduce.

I invite you to open up as you can to the light of personal growth

and … begin to thrive.
