Take Up Your O.A.R’s!

Ownership Accountability    Response – able – ness

These make the acronym -  OAR’s.

Imagine a horizontal line that divides two very separate and different ways of being in life.

Above the line is where we will want and need to be. This is where we collect our OAR’s to row our metaphorical boat forward. The OAR’s take us to somewhere good, where opportunities and experiences open up for us that we cannot access, living below the line.

‘Ownership’ lives above the line. Power comes to the owner, not to a non- owner. The owner has control of their own life, is responsible for their own life and bears the consequences and / or reaps the benefits of the condition of their life.

They own everything inside them …

…regardless of how it came to be that way.

This can be the first hurdle to overcome when we have lived below the line for a long time. If we can accept and grasp this ownership, over time it will put us into a place where we can grow and life can change for the better. (This may need the help of someone to walk with us where we can experience compassion and truth joined together).

Accountability is where we have someone to share the journey with and who cares enough to hold us accountable to do, what we say we will do. Someone who can remind us of the goal and point us forward and celebrate with us our wins. We need to find a someone who can do this for us. This may be a partner or friend who understands what is needed or a professional according to the severity of the recovery required.

Relationship + Truth + Time is the winning combo!

‘Response - able -ness’ is where we are able to respond to life, rather than react because we have taken control of ourselves, are responsible for ourselves and now feel the weight of our own life, reaping the benefits of a life that is growing and going somewhere.

Now that other place, below the line, also has an acronym – BED.

This is where we go nowhere in life, just treading water in the mire of …

Blame  Excuse Denial

This one is a sad place really, that puts the brake on our success in life and keeps us a victim.

Fortunately, there is a better way!

To shift above the line is worth it, for the empowerment to be found, above the line.

I invite you to ponder the difference today and make a decision to reposition out of any toxic

victimhood and …
