Hey Parents!
How would you rate your family unit on the quality of it’s communication?
A high quality of communication will include high quality listening . How well do you listen?
We can listen on one level in order to think how we will reply and the focus is then on the reply.
A higher level of listening will be to listen to what the person is saying in order to understand.
This will need a focus on the content of the words that are being spoken and the feeling with which the words are communicated.
We can bring our full attention to the other person, or not. if we do give our full attention, we are also communicating respect and honour which is a sense of weight and value , whether the person is old or young, useful and productive or not so much. .
This respect becomes mutual and honour is the soil that love grows in. Performing well in life comes when communication and connection are in good shape.
To be a good communicator enhances our interactions, bringing clarity and emotional maturity into family life
which is then modelled by our children.
To be heard and understood is one of the structures of a healthy family and one of the most strengthening qualities we can build into our families.
This also travels on into our communities and work places.
I encourage you today to intentionally build good communication habits .The results are found in an increase in love and also in our performance and personal well being.
